Harddrives FAQ
I have a laptop that only has an 80GB hard drive and I can't get an external hard drive to work on it right now so I was wondering what kind of files are safe to compress. I have some things that I rarely use but I don't want to delete because I do use them occasionally but I'm not sure what compressing them will do and/or how I will access them afterwards.
I want one that has a Hard Disk Drive, and one that i can pause without having to make a whole new video.
I've just been reading about this guy who had to be slowed and stopped by a police car because his accelerator / throttle jammed, I see he had the presence of mind to dial 911, so why not just switch the ignition off ?.................take the gearstick out of drive ?...............or even apply the brakes hard ?

First I had a hard drive failure, but then I don't remember it in order. I Got it to start, tried to watch a tc show I downloaded, it would not work, got operation aborted. Then the whole screen froze on me. I started it again expecting it to work, I had to press ctl alt dlt to restart, absolutely would not work. Got a message something device connected to the computer. But I turned it on this morning, windows didn't shut down properly. Then again it happed to me, havig trouble watching tv shows I downloaded, then kinda freezing then a noise, had to shut down after it froze, turned on got the clt alt dlt, would not work. Turned it off. Left it for a bit, now it works. Your last browsing session closed unexpectedly. 2 more times. I had computer updates, they always give me trouble. I have NO idea what it is, worked fine for a day, then just now watching a download just freezes on me.

I purchased the Seagate drive to use with my iMac. I installed the drive using the Firewire connection and the CF card reader that uses the other firewire port stopped working. After several hours without any luck it appears that the drive does not meet the specifications for MAC and draws too much power.

Three bad drives out of three in one year. Really bad warranty process. I’ve wasted three hours trying to do the impossible. Read an impossibly small serial number, tried 24 times to enter information online and kept getting an error message, talked to a warranty rep who couldn’t give me any information without the serial number. Worst customer service experience I have ever had. Throwing away the drive, eating the loss and never will buy the product again. Tried to give it no stars, but it made me give it one.

Sadly this 150 dollar paperweight wont turn on the first time out of the box. Waiting on hold with Seagate for a long time and have yet to speak to a human. Why me?!?! Zero stars for this loser. And what is with the huge and ugly white power supply?

This hard drive is compact and easy to accesss. The software allows to setup the hard drive to function to your specifications. The sleep mood helps save energy, but restarts quickly when accessed. Overall a good hard drive.

This is the worst HD I’ve ever bought.
Less than a week of usage and a lot of bad signs:
1. “windows delayed to write”
2. “windows was unable to save all the data for the file $Mft” which is the master file table and that my friends is really not a good sign.
3. Then the click of death “click, click, click”
The folks at Seagate should get arrested for selling this.
